This package is for teachers delivering the new 2022 spec for BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care Component 2. For teachers following my SoW, this is for week 31 after the completion of Component 1. There is one presentations, one is 26 slides and covers both geographical barriers and intellectual barriers and ways to overcome both as per PSA Task 3, with applied examples. There is guidance and options for students note taking which will be a source of reference in the PSA. Students will be expected to know a range of potential barriers but the focus is on financial covered in the spec below and be able to recognise which barrier(s) apply and the most suitable ways to overcome these. In addition there is also suggestions how multiple barriers exist for one person. Homework is set as the case studies they do not cover in the lesson so they have the full range from the spec. The package covers the below spec content; Financial barriers – charging for services, cost of transport, loss of income while accessing services: – ways to overcome financial barriers: NHS exemption certificates, NHS Low Income Scheme, NHS vouchers for eye tests, glasses and lenses, NHS Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme (HTCS), charitable schemes such as community transport This weeks teaching is a smaller content input so there is task 1, Task 2 and Task 3 Mock exams to give students the opportunity to apply thier learning for Learning Aim A into practice exam questions. If you are following my SoW 2024-2025, this is Week 16, this now relates to PSA Task 3a (Life Event PIES) and 3b (Support) . There are homework tasks for both Level 1 and Level 2 which are adaptable to suit your need eg.date There are activities aimed at building up student notes to have with them in the PSA and capture understanding and can be referred to whilst students complete the PSA Controlled Assessment. There is the continued literacy support with useful vocabulary, again and a case study example PIES. There’s a 42 slide presentation covering all aspects surrounding life events and looking at both the positive and negative impact on PIES. There are lots of activities to get students thinking about the B1 and B2 words in the spec using a flow chart bringing ideas together. This package consists of a 34 page booklet of activities and revision/exam practice for the new BTEC Unit 2 A1 and A2 part of the spec. There are suggested exam answers to any practice questions within the booklet and it's a Word booklet that can be added to or altered to suit your teaching style. To accompany the delivery of content there are SIX PowerPoints and places to make notes and refer to the BTEC Student text book. It is page numbered for ease of use, engaging and a revision resource for students ahead of their exam. There is a third presentation which aims to raise literacy levels and gives students vocabulary prompts to enable students to access higher grades when writing up their PIES in the assessment work.
